Parashooting
23 September 2008
Some of you might think that this is absolutely crazy; some might think it is pretty fun. We think it’s both. Now we have tried and can tell you all about Parashooting (paragliding with paintball guns).
The first Parashooting event took place in Tapalpa last weekend, we are not completely sure, but we think this was a first ever, a historical event. We were 6 brave men forming 3 teams with a pilot and a gunner in each. At first we wanted some rules (see parashooting page) but then we skipped those and decided that it was better to just try to shoot the other teams until the bullets ran out (about 200).
It was all that we expected and a little more. The pilots were fighting to get an advantage point behind and above the other teams, circling around each other as the dog fight got more and more intense. The trigger happy gunners were pumping out bullets which were coming at you at an alarming speed. Sometimes you could here “enemy at 4 o’clock” or something similar that you would expect in a Top Gun scenario.
It was quite difficult to actually hit the target since you needed to calculate the airspeed and anticipate the bullets path, but it was not impossible. We shot an estimated 500 bullets and only 5 hit the target. But now we have some experience and surly we will do a lot better next time.
Have your say:
